Juba Skies
Oil on Linen 35cmx50cm
I used the smooth texture of the linen to increase the translucency of the sky, selecting colours and paint brands that had a high transparency index.
The focus was on keeping the painting simple. The string of yellow-billed kites soaring on the thermals created by the building storm clouds.

Initially trained at the Johannesburg College of Art, Jan has won numerous international awards and has exhibited nationally and internationally. • Absolutely breathtaking Jandre’ I’ve never quite got the hang of using blue but seeing this makes me want to really give it a go. Absolutely exquisite…

    • Thanks Marcus. After the fight I had with my previous painting, which i finally gave up on in disgust, this was gentle and uncomplicated.
