My portrait of ‘Chaka’ (20cmx20cm), as part of the project mobilising artists for owners to raise funds for the Great Dane Rescue Society.
Apologies to all for the crazy stuff being thrown out as the migration to a new website takes place. A bit of a learning curve and your patience is appreciated.

Owning a piece of art that you absolutely love is a feast for the eyes every day! Thanks Jan Andre Raats!

Terry made us an amazing Caprese avo stack lunch, with basil oil from the last of the basil in the herb-pot. It did result in having to get a set of food rings for the kitchen, possible with Metlerkamps now open.
One of those, sort of, must have, how did I do without, gadget things for the kitchen. Or rather, the Kamado Joe, in my case. A serious digital thermometer that takes the guess work out of when your dish is ready.
Social distancing has a different perspective when out riding, defined by the mud (or cow-patty) thrown up from the back wheel of a MTB!
One week in Stage 4 Lockdown, and the daily running and cycling has had an immediate impact on regulating my wild blood-sugars. No hyperglycaemia spikes, and although bouncing off the lower hypoglycaemia levels, the average has reduced to 5,7 mmol/L from 8.0 mmol/L
‘Sea Spray’ Oil on canvas 20cmx20cm. Inspired by Yayoi Kusama, from her distinctive Infinity Nets style. Serial repetitions across the canvas, with my finger painting technique. Amazingly therapeutic and a larger work definitely planned.

Wow!!!! Jan, Just love your new-look site. Very elegant. Well done! Worth all the rogue e-mails in our InBoxes. 🙂 I’m impressed with your various new offshoots into art styles. Actually loved the Yayoi Kusama-inspired piece a third of the way through!!! Very pleased to hear about your improved blood sugars. Lot to be said about healthy exercise.

Thank you and sorry for the chaos! There is so much to sort. Trying to get a ’first-pass’ while I learn all the bits and will then refine it. At least that’s the plan! Fad ting blood sugars still a rad high, so wine will have to wait a bit. Stay safe
