‘Horsing Around’, one of my paintings from Nieu Bethesda Sold and heading to its new home at the Bangladesh Ambassador.
Gorgeous summer day, with a touch of rain before the sun turned the estuary into hues of brilliant colour. Fabulous display of summer flowers on the walk around Leisure Island.
Heat, the arch enemy of chocolate and keeping the studio cool the new challenge heading into the hotter months. Fortunately, cooling assisted by a fresh breeze from the water.
Concept for my next painting taking shape. Aspects of Ad Reinhardt’s black paintings, in the red-black, blue-black, green-black squares, and the Michele Nagrini inspired mark-making (using salt-bush) to create a colorful, recycled plastic water bottle butterfly abstract piece.
Coloured butterflies, bursting from the black nothingless.
Having to focus on the mark-making on the butterflies as the uppermost colours have to be applied first as I’m painting on the back of the plastic. A tad tricky.
Rain, sweeping in across the estuary. Gentleness, rather than hammering storms. That extra glass of red wine, while the world settles.
