A New Day

Oil on canvas 60cmx30cm

Ferrario ‘Indigo’ No. 453, from my magic box of paints for the portait painting that’s on the easel in the studio. Blocking in the huge bits of the canvas and seeing how to simplify, yet bring in the uniqueness of the artist.

Ride over the Brenton hills. My mountain bike making increasingly alarming noises. A host of new drive-chain parts the remedy. Wear and tear from hours of abuse over our hills and corrugations.

Beautifully written. Heart-breaking. Special. ‘When Breath Becomes Air’, Paul Kalanithi.

Stunning dinner by Chef Hirsch.

A Tzatziki starter followed by smokey barbecue duck breast, micro herb salad, served with a Spanish Sherry vinegar and olive oil. Salmon with basil pesto. Sweet potato wrapped in bacon. Rosemary and grilled fennel bulbs topped with Parmesan. A green salad with smoked mozzarella.

Dikops calling as thé storm rolls in. Thunder and lightning driving a Border Collie, inside-out. His safe haven. The Mobi-kennel. A respite.

My inspiration for the week The Cocodona 250, with ‘Whiskey Man’ Micheal Versteeg the winner in a tad over 72hours! An epic trail run in Arizona, with fabulous live coverage.
