Chobe, a baby elephant – a few weeks old – peering out at the world from beneath his mother.

I used a combination of Indian Yellow (dark and light) as well as Naples Yellow (dark and light) together with Quinacridone Rose and an unusual colour for me, Van Dyk Brown, that was patiently waiting in the painting basket. It’s transparent nature made it good for combining with the transparent Indian Yellow and Rose to give me a rich deep sunset type colour, creating a simple, peaceful painting.
