Old Naledi is the poor part of the city, teaming with life, and a vibrancy that seems to be missing in the rest of the city. It’s as if this is the real heart of the big GC – the shiny buildings and fancy shopping malls, a cold, somewhat embarrassing – intrusion. Not that I want to live there, but I do want to try and capture it’s essence.

The car in my painting, ‘Baby you can drive my car’, is the focus for the kids play activities in the part of Old Naledi I pass on my way to the dam.
